Instructor: Tony Zeh

Tony has taught at a local charter school as well 5 years as a college instructor.

His background in the arts includes: a BFA in sculpture, Paintings in galleries located in Scottsdale to Los Angeles and businesses in design and photography.

Tony values learning and teaching equally. He understands that the student can teach as well as learn and enjoys the challenges of working with young aspiring artists, as well as those who just want to develop their creative skills to have better problem solving skills when they hit the real world.

Graffiti Arts Workshop: Teens learn the fun (legal) side of the art of Graffiti. Students learn how to build a panel to paint on, different techniques in graffiti art, including creating their own custom stencil.

Each Student will work on a 4'x4' panel. They will learn to use paint pens and spray paints with a variety of caps to create their work of art. They will learn some terminology such as "Toy" and "King" and how they can benefit from doing work, they keep legal.  They leave the class with their own work of art and a black book to continue working out designs and develop their creativity.

Students will take a trip to their local paint store, which specializes in Graffiti supplies. Students will get to select 8 colors to create their painting with 2 Ink pens and a variety of caps to play with. They will also pick up a small black book for a student to develop their designs.

Students will first begin building their panel. They will learn why it's important to paint on their own surface rather than on a public wall or other place which is illegal. This course will help develop their artistic skills as well as teach them some responsibility to the work around them. We want a student to leave with a fun and exciting art form which they can benefit from rather than go to jail for.

After a student creates their working surface, they will look at graffiti samples to help them understand the art form and to develop their own ideas and identity. They will be drawing in their black books and developing ideas. They will get to create a "tag" and also a personalized Stencil.

Students will prep their panels and get them ready for painting. They will learn how to prime their panels and conserve their supplies. They then will have the rest of the time to develop their painting.

Each student will leave with their 4'x4' painting, plus a set of pens and their Black book (sketchbook) and spray caps.

(Any leftover paints will remain so future students have extra colors they can select from. We have a share mentality and it offers more too each student who takes our course.)
